Curving Performance Analysis of a Freight Train Transporting 50-Meter-long Rail Using Multibody Dynamics Simulation

چکیده

Long rails are normally used in highspeed railways to minimize the number of rail joints and dynamic impact force that follows. However, transporting long using a freight train requires multiple wagons for each section, presenting potential safety loading gauge issues, especially when going through curves. Thus, assessment needs be done prior actual transport. Computational simulation can preliminary assessment. Finite element analysis incorporate flexibility into but significant manpower computer power perform. In this study, an alternative method model multibody approach is presented. The sectioned rigid bodies along their length interconnected rotational joints. stiffness coefficient defined as function rail’s physical properties. This modelling technique results simplified retains original elastic Simulations constructed hauled were compared on-track test measurements same configuration. comparison generally showed good agreement, showing technique’s ability accuracy simulate case.

Causal Analysis of Passenger Train Accidents on Freight Rail Corridors

A number of economic, technical and political factors have limited the development of new, dedicated, very-high-speed rail systems in North America. Consequently, most, near-term development of improved or expanded passenger rail service in the U.S. will involve use of existing railroad infrastructure or rights of way. Comprehensive understanding of train accidents on shared-use corridors is cr...

Statistical Modeling of Freight Train Derailments at Highway - Rail Level

Implementation of highway-rail level crossing warning systems, educational programs and research on crossings have all contributed to a steady reduction in the risk of level crossings to North American highway users over the past several decades. Much less attention has been given to understanding the effect of level crossings on train safety and risk. Incidents at highway-rail level crossings ...

Structural analysis of a wind turbine and its drive train using the flexible multibody simulation technique

This article demonstrates the application of a generic methodology, based on the flexible multibody simulation technique, for the dynamic analysis of a wind turbine and its drive train, including a gearbox. The analysis of the complete wind turbine is limited up to 10 Hz, whereas the study of the drive train includes frequencies up to 1500 Hz. Both studies include a normal modes analysis. The a...

How to Park Freight Trains on Rail-Rail Transshipment Yards: The Train Location Problem

In modern rail-rail transshipment yards huge gantry cranes spanning all railway tracks allow for an e cient transshipment of containers between di erent freight trains. This way, multiple trains loaded with cargo for varying destinations can be consolidated to a reduced number of homogeneous trains, which is an essential requirement of hub-and-spoke railway systems. An important problem during ...

Simulation and Analysis of Container Freight Train Operations at Port Botany Simulation and Analysis of Container Freight Train Operations at Port Botany

Over two million containers crossed the docks at Sydney’s Port Botany in 2011/12; a figure that is forecast to increase more than threefold by the end of the next decade. To cope with such large growth in volumes, the New South Wales (NSW) State Government plans to double rail mode share at the port by the year 2020. Conventional wisdom from industry and the media says that existing infrastruct...
